It is a forward assist
Have used two of these so far. Worked fine with the stripped uppers I built on, no issues installing nor in function after installation. Parts seemed well made, with good machining and fit. A FA is pretty simple, and I do not anticipate any issues with them. A spare is in the parts box just in case.
